New R/V Skagerak

In 2013 the University of Gothenburg ordered a new ship for research and education. It will replace the more than 50-year-old ship Skagerak. The new vessel is 49 metres long, 11 metres wide and with a displacement of about 1000 tonnes. The ship gets a crew of 5 persons and can accommodate 16 scientists and students. The new vessel will take over the name of the old ship.

The vessel was built at Nauta Shiprepair Yard S.A. in Gdynia, Poland, and was heavily delayed. The completion of the ship is done in Gothenburg, and is expected to be delivered in 2021. The vessel can be localized with MarineTraffic.
