Existing R/V Skagerak

The research vessel Skagerak, length 38 metres, is fully equipped for marine research and education in water depth down to 1000 metres. The trained and experienced crew is familiar with handling and deploying scientific equipment. Maximal endurance at sea is 14 days. During longer expeditions Skagerak can take 10 scientists/students, with a crew of 6.

University of Gothenburg owns and coordinate scientific work on board Skagerak. University of Gothenburg has commissioned Northern Offshore Services to staff the vessel and to be responsible for maritime safety.

Skagerak is equipped with AIS (Automatic Identification System). The ship sends regularly information about its position, course, speed, etc. You can follow the track of Skagerak on MarineTraffic.

Skagerak will be replaced by a new research vessel.
